Men's basketball to host "Haunted Hoops"

October 27, 2005 - Marquette?s men?s basketball team will host ?Haunted Hoops? this Saturday night, October 29, at the Al McGuire Center beginning at 8 p.m. Activities include ?trick-or-treating? for children 14 years old and younger wearing a costume, games and prizes. The evening will conclude with a team scrimmage and autograph session.

The event is free and open to the public.

Single Game Tickets On-Sale
Single game tickets for Marquette?s 18-game home schedule go on-sale to the general public Saturday, October 29 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Bradley Center. Tickets may also be purchased at any Ticketmaster outlet or on-line at www.gomarquette.com.

MU opens play with an exhibition game against Michigan Tech on Thursday, November 10. The team starts the regular season on Friday, November 18 against Rice at 8 p.m. in the second game of the 44th Pepsi Blue & Gold Classic.

Big East Media Day
Marquette was selected 12th in a preseason poll of the Big East Conference?s 16 head coaches released yesterday at media day in New York City.

Villanova was a narrow choice over Connecticut to win the regular season crown. The Wildcats earned nine first-place votes while UConn picked up seven. The Wildcats accumulated 215 total points while the Huskies had 213.

It is only the second time in league history that Villanova has been picked for first place in the preseason. The coaches made the Wildcats the preseason favorites in 1982-83.
