Golden Eagles Earn Highest National Rankings in Program History

The Golden Eagles improved to 11-1-1 overall and 4-1 in BIG EAST play this past weekend, after defeating No. 5 Notre Dame, 4-1, on Friday night and downing DePaul, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.
MU is the top-ranked BIG EAST team on both polls (Soccer America/Soccer Buzz), ahead of the No. 7/10 Fighting Irish, No. 13/14 Connecticut, and No. 24/21 West Virginia.
The 11-1-1 overall mark (.884) is the second-best record in program history, through 13 matches. The 2000 squad began the season with a 12-1 record (.923) before ending up 20-3-1 (.854) overall, en route to an NCAA Tournament appearance.
Marquette returns to action on Friday, Oct. 7 when they travel to face the No. 21 ranked Mountaineers in Morgantown, W. Va. before traveling to Pittsburgh on Sunday, Oct. 9.
