Four-year letterwinner honored by league
MILWAUKEE ? Abbie Willenborg was named to the 10-member Conference USA Women's Basketball All-Decade team, the league announced.
Willenborg was a letterwinner at Marquette from the 1996-97 season through the 1999-2000 season. She led Marquette to four NCAA Tournament appearances and a pair of regular-season Conference USA titles during her career.
"It's a great honor for her. She had a fantastic career at Marquette, and I was privileged to have coached her," said Marquette head coach Terri Mitchell. "I can't say enough about the kind of player she was, but she is even that much greater of an individual. She meant so much to this program and I'm thrilled for her to receive this honor."
During her four years at Marquette, she was named a second team All-American by the Women's Basketball News Service after the 1999-2000 season. She was a three-time first-team All-Conference USA selection in each of her final three seasons. She won three C-USA Player-of-the-Week honors in her career and was named to the 1997 Conference USA All-Tournament team. She is Marquette's all-time leading scorer and is eighth in Conference USA history with 1,818 points. She is also the school's all-time leading rebounder and is second all-time in league history with 1,167 rebounds.
