?Anytime you are recognized as one of the best in your field, it is a great honor,? said head coach Tom Crean. ?Travis has had a tremendous career and one of his greatest statistics that we are all proud of are those 91 wins.?
The AP honor is the most recent in a collection of post season awards and recognition for Diener. Earlier this month, he was named to his second consecutive All-Conference USA first team, as well as being named a finalist for the Cousy and Bayer Senior C.L.A.S.S. awards. Prior to his season ending injury, Diener was selected as a Naismith and Wooden Award mid-season all-American.
?Today?s honor is the result of four years of development by Travis and is just one of many more great honors he will earn during his career,? said Crean.
The 6-1 point guard from Fond du Lac finished his Marquette career ranked first all-time in three-point field goals, second in assists, third in scoring and eighth in steals. Diener is the third AP All-American honoree during head coach Tom Crean?s tenure. Dwyane Wade received honorable mention in 2002 and was named to the AP?s first team in 2003.
