Diener finishes third in Final Four three-point competition

DePaul?s Drake Diener won the eight-man competition by defeating Vermont?s T.J. Sorrentine in the finals, 20-16.
One of the final two shooters in the opening round, Diener buried the money ball from the final rack to post 14 points and advance to the second round by one point over Washington?s Tre Simmons. His 13 points in the semifinals left him three shy of qualifying for the finals.
For the two rounds, Diener scored 27 of a possible 60 points.
A career 41.3-percent three-point shooter, Travis is the school?s all-time leader in three point field goals with 284.
The official order of finish was:
1. Drake Diener, DePaul
2. T.J. Sorrentine, Vermont
3. Travis Diener, Marquette
4. Taron Downey, Wake Forest
5. Tre Simmons, Washington
6. John Lucas, Oklahoma State
7. Ronald Ross, Texas Tech
