Susan Barth finished her career at Marquette in 2004 following a standout career as a Golden Eagle. The C-USA Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year in 2004, Barth won a total of three C-USA Track and Field individual titles. Her first came in the 5,000m Indoor in 2001. She also won titles in the 3,000m (2002) and again in the 5,000m in 2003. Barth was a four time all-Conference performer and currently owns the school record in the Indoor 5,000m with a time of 16:29.11.
?Brianna and Susan have both been such an important part of our program for the past several years and I am thrilled to see them recognized with such a prestigious award,? said head track coach Dave Uhrich. ?Not only have they had outstanding running careers at Marquette, but they have also excelled in the classroom and they are an excellent example of what being a "student-athlete" is all about.?
Brianna Dahm, currently a senior on Marquette?s Track and Field team, earned C-USA Athlete of the Year honors in 2003 following titles in the Mile, 1,500m and as a member of the Distance Medley Relay team at the 2003 Indoor championship meet. Dahm was also the C-USA Freshman of the Year in 2001 for Indoor Track and Field. A three-time all-Conference performer, Dahm owns school records in the Indoor 1,000m (2:54.09), 3,000m (9:22.07) and Distance Medley Relay (11:41.17).
?Both women were also named to the all decade team for cross country, so to receive two such awards in a matter of months further emphasizes what outstanding running careers they have had at Marquette,? said Uhrich.
The naming of the team coincided with the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships held in Houston earlier this month.
