Throwers compete in Champaign

Champaign, Ill. ? Due to inclement weather the entire Marquette track and field team did not travel to Illinois for the Central Collegiate Championships. Although only the throwers attended the meet, the Golden Eagles managed some impressive finishes.
On the women?s side, senior Emily Leklem finished third in the shot put with a distance of 46-00.75. While trying to keep her streak of first place finishes alive she racked up six points for Marquette.
Also for the women, Andrea Engelmann and Jessica Ehlen both had top ten finishes in the hammer throw. Engelmann came in second after a throw of 174 -08, gaining eight points for the women. Ehlen, with a throw of 139-09 finished tenth.
In the men?s hammer throw Marquette had four participants compete. Among them was sophomore Damian Anisko who with a seventh place finish after a distance of 165-07, earned the men two points. Jonathan Rosploch, who also competed in the shot put finished in thirteenth with a throw of 146-06. Also competing in the event were freshmen Michael Bodeker and Michael Heim who placed fifteenth and eighteenth, respectively.
Rosploch gained a point for the men in the shot put with an eighth place finish after a heave of 50-02.00.
The Marquette women finished the day in eighth place after accumulating fourteen points, while the men finished in eleventh with three points.
