Women's Track Wins Three Events at Wisconsin Twilight

MADISON, Wis. ? Cassie Peller, Emily Leklem and Jessica Ehlen led a strong Marquette charge in a 12-team field in the Wisconsin Twilight on Saturday, claiming a trio of first place finishes.
Peller's time of 4:28.33 gave her the win in the 1,500 meters, leading a group of six MU runners to finish in the top seven. Peller beat teammate Brianna Dahm by just more than three-quarters of a second. Kaitlyn Chambers and Tara Hinke finished third and fourth. Michaela Courtney and Terri Emond placed sixth and seventh respectively.
Leklem, an NCAA Regional Qualifier, won her fifth event of the season, throwing the shot put 48-feet, 4-inches.
Ehlen won the discus. Her throw of 140-feet, 3-inches, was better than the second place finisher by a foot and a half. Ehlen also took third in the hammer, throwing 151-feet, eight inches.
Senior Crystal Andalcio-O'Neil was MU's top finisher in the 100 meters, running in third place in a time of 12.12. She also placed fifth in the 200 meters, sprinting the event in 25.40.
Leslie Lawton ran well in the 5,000 meters, finishing third in a time of 19:16.36. Lauren Chmielewski also came in third in the 400 meter hurdles, finishing in 1:04.67.
On the men's side, freshman Ray Bratchett came away with the best individual finish. He placed second in the high jump with a mark of 6-feet, 6 3/4-inches.
Zach Palowski also shined in the pole vault, leaping 15-feet, 5-inches, matching the second best jump of the meet. He finished third based on misses.
In the field events, Jonathon Rosploch heaved the shot put 51-feet, nine inches to finish third. Damian Anisko also came in third in the hammer, tossing the apparatus 163-feet, three inches. Rosploch finished fourth in the event with a throw of 157-feet, eight inches.
The 4x100 meter relay team of Ryan Seebruck, Bratchett, Nick Van Deraa and Matt Piekarski placed third in a deep field, finishing in 42 seconds flat.
After a week off, Marquette returns to action in the Conference USA Championships.
