Bratchett Takes Eighth at USA Track and Field Championships

CARSON, Calif. ? Marquette freshman Ray Bratchett came in eighth place in the junior men's high jump at the 2005 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Carson, Calif. Bratchett was competing for a spot on the Junior Pan American team in this event.
Bratchett cleared two heights, 2.0 and 2.05 meters. He cleared both heights on his third attempt. The start height for the event was 2.0 meters.
Bratchett failed to clear 2.10, missing all three opportunities. Three other jumpers also failed to clear the height, but placed higher in the standings by clearing the previous heights without missing.
The jump of 2.05 meters (6-feet, 8 3/4-inches) improved Bratchett's season and career best by two inches.
Nebraska's Dustin Jones won the event with a height of 2.24 meters.
Marquette senior Brianna Dahm will compete in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, June 24, at 5:05 p.m. PDT, in the first round of 3,000-meter Steeplechase. The finals of that event take place on Sunday, June 26, at 1 p.m. PDT.
