Dahm capped a stellar four-year career with a career-best seventh place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in her third NCAA Championships appearance, earning her a second All-America honor in the event. She also finished her career as an all-region cross country performer, Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2003, C-USA Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2002, and a four-time all- conference selection in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. Dahm was a five- time C-USA Academic Medal recipient, for having a GPA of over 3.75. She was also a Cross Country and Track and Field Academic All-American.
?Dahm is one of the most talented student-athletes Marquette has ever seen,? said Athletic Director Bill Cords. ?She worked hard to become successful while overcoming adversity. This is a just award as she exemplifies the true student-athlete.?
To qualify for an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, a student-athlete must have an overall grade-point average of 3.200 (on a 4.000 scale) or its equivalent and must have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport in which the student-athlete was nominated. The student-athlete must have behaved, both on and off the field, in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete, the institution and intercollegiate athletics. The student-athlete also must intend to continue academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.
Nomination forms are sent to faculty athletics representatives in the fall. The forms are also available online and may be completed online. Selections are made three times each academic year. The application must be submitted during the appropriate seasonal category for the sport. Candidates are screened by seven regional selection committees, and the winners are selected by the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee.
Dahm joins Susan Barth, a cross country and track and field athlete earned a postgraduate scholarship in 2004, and women's soccer player Kelly Roethe earned one in 2000.
