Women's Soccer Picked Fourth in BIG EAST

Golden Eagles trail Connecticut, West Virginia, Syracuse in Division A
MILWAUKEE ? The Marquette women's soccer team was selected by the league's coaches to finish fourth in Division A of the BIG EAST. This year marks the Golden Eagles first season in their new conference.
Defending BIG EAST Tournament champion Connecticut was selected to win the division, coming off an 18-7-1 season. Also picked ahead of Marquette were West Virginia and Syracuse. St. John's, Pittsburgh, USF and Providence round out the division.
Notre Dame, the defending national champion, was picked to win Division B. Villanova, Rutgers, Georgetown, Louisville, DePaul, Seton Hall and Cincinnati conclude that division's preseason standings.
Notre Dame had two players named preseason players-of-the-year. Katie Thorlakson was named offensive player-of-the-year while teammate Erika Bohn was named keeper-of-the-year. Villanova's Laura Koch was named defensive player-of-the-year.
Marquette opens up its season on Friday, Aug. 26 taking on Illinois in the 2005 Milwaukee Cup. The Golden Eagles host the 2005 BIG EAST tournament on November 4-6.
