Freshman follows up BIG EAST honor
MILWAUKEE ? After being named BIG EAST Rookie-of-the-week on Monday, September 12, freshman defender Katie Kelly was named to the Soccer Buzz National Team-of-the-Week on Tuesday, September 13.
Kelly scored her second goal of the season, a game winner against Xavier, and provided stingy defense helping Marquette attain shutouts of Wis.-Milwaukee and Miami (Fla.) during the week.
Kelly was the second Marquette women's soccer player to be named to a national team-of-the-week. Sophomore goalkeeper Laura Boyer was named to the Top Drawer Soccer national team-of-the-week.
Marquette, ranked no. 17 by Soccer Buzz, returns to action on Friday, September 16 at 7 p.m. at Valley Fields to take on USF in the first BIG EAST contest hosted by the university.
