Todd Garners BIG EAST Honors

MILWAUKEE - Junior Kimberley Todd was named to the BIG EAST honor roll as announced by the conference office, Monday, after leading the Marquette volleyball team to victories over Georgetown and South Florida this past weekend. The outside hitter becomes the first Golden Eagle recognized by the conference this season.

In Friday's 3-0 (30-20, 31-29, 30-8) defeat of the Hoyas, Todd tallied 18 kills and a 42.4 hitting percentage. She backed up that performance with 26 kills, 11 digs, seven assisted blocks and a 33.9 hitting percentage against the Bulls on Sunday, as the Golden Eagles held on for a 3-2 (30-26, 30-25, 20-30, 25-30, 15-11) victory. The double-double was her eighth of the year, and the 26 kills marked the sixth time this season she has recorded 20+ kills in a match.

Over the two matches, Todd averaged 5.50 K/G and a 37.1 hitting percentage.

The junior leads MU and ranks second in the BIG EAST with 4.84 K/G. She also leads the team with 1.11 B/G and is second with 2.47 D/G and a 23.7 hitting percentage.

Todd was named BIG EAST Player of the Week twice last season as a sophomore, and was named Conference USA Player of the Week as a freshman.

The Golden Eagles (7-8, 3-1) are back in action, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. ET, when they face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (9-5, 3-0), in Notre Dame, Ind.
