MILWAUKEE - Marquette head women's basketball coach Terri Mitchell hosted her first of three "Breakfasts with Terri" Tuesday morning at the Alumni Memorial Union on the campus of Marquette University. Over 90 Milwaukee business women were in attendance for the hour-long breakfast that focused on topics of importance both on the court and in the business world.
Mitchell introduced her staff and talked about the upcoming season which begins Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m., against no. 25 Washington. She spoke about making dreams a reality and mapped out a way for the guest to achieve those dreams.
"Words lead to thinking which leads to emotions which effect decisions that turn into actions, then to habits that build character and lead to destiny," explained Mitchell.
She also touched on the impact of her mission trip to Rwanda, as well as the positive effect her grade school coach had on her helping to make her the coach she is today.
"So many coaches talk down to their players but neglect to realize that they are sending the same players out on the court with out a winner's mentality. Yes, I may get after my players in practice, but I am also the same one after practice talking them up telling them how good they are going to play in the next game. I wouldn't be here coaching today if it weren't for my grade school coach."
The next breakfast with Terri is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, at 7:30 a.m. Please contact Jamie Hays in the women's basketball office for more information at (414) 288-6018.
