MILWAUKEE - Head men's basketball coach Tom Crean will hold a book signing to promote his new publication, Coaching Team Basketball: Develop Winning Players with a Team-First Attitude, Saturday, November 4 at 2 p.m., at the Borders Book Store in Fox Point. The Borders store is located at 8705 N. Port Washinton. For more information about the book, please visit this web site: Coaching Team Basketball.
Crean and Ralph Pim collaborated to write Coaching Team Basketball. The book focuses on developing a successful group of players by using drills that incorporate team building and selflessness on the court. 2006 NBA Finals MVP, Dwyane Wade, provided the foreword.
This is Crean's second book as he and Stephen J. Brennan, together wrote Inside Recruiting: The Master Guide to Successful College Athletic Recruiting.
Crean is in his eighth season as head coach of the Golden Eagles. With a 140-76 overall record in seven seasons, Marquette has averaged 20 wins a year, won a conference championship, made six postseason appearances, including the 2003 Final Four - the program's third appearance all-time and first since 1977. In the last four years, Crean has had three players selected in the NBA Draft, Wade (Miami, fifth overall) Travis Diener (Orlando, 38th overall) and Steve Novak (Houston, 32nd overall).
Pim, a former college basketball coach and current Chief of Competitive Sports at the United States Military Academy, has authored six books on basketball and written numerous coaching articles. He presented at the 2005 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement and at the NCAA Division I Final Four in 2004 and 2005.
