Marquette Volleyball Defeats IUPUI, 3-1

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette volleyball team won its second match of the Marquette Challenge this afternoon downing, IUPUI, 3-1. Led by junior Jamie Mueller who moved back into her normal outside hitter position and registered a career-high 24 kills, the Golden Eagles win their second straight of the weekend improving to 4-1 on the season.
"Jamie and Theresa did a great job holding down the fort," said head coach Pati Rolf. "IUPUI did a good job of moving the ball around and making us struggle. Monica Renfro was the sparkplug off the bench in game four helping us to buckle down and get the job done."
Marquette tallied the first two wins, 30-27 and 30-20, respectively before IUPUI caught the Golden Eagles off guard and turned the tables, winning 30-20 in game three. Marquette bounced back and earned the third and final win in convincing fashion, 30 -19. Mueller registered 15 kills in the first two games and led the effort in game four hitting 62.5 percent.
The Golden Eagles wrap-up the Marquette Challenge tonight at 7:30 p.m. in "The Al" against New Hampshire.
