Novak to Play in Portsmouth Invitational

MILWAUKEE - Marquette senior forward Steve Novak is taking part in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, starting April 6, in Portsmouth, Va. The four-day event brings college seniors together to play in front of NBA scouts.
Sixty-four college seniors will play in the 11-game tournament which will have approximately 200 NBA representatives in attendance. This is the only pre-season tournament of its kind, prior to the Chicago Draft Camp.
The goal of the tournament is to give players the opportunity to be evaluated by NBA talent. Players who have played in the Portsmouth Tournament include Scottie Pippen, John Stockton, Rick Barry, Dave Cowens and John Lucas. Former MU players Amal McCaskill, Scott Merritt, Robert Jackson, Cordell Henry, Brian Wardle played in the PIT.
Novak is teamed with Mohmamed Kone (Valparaiso), Kelly Whitney (Seton Hall), Nick Lewis (San Diego), Jared Newson (Tenn.-Martin), Je'Kel Foster (Ohio State), Chris Hernandez (Stanford) and Tony Skinn (George Mason.
Novak's first game is on Thursday, April 6 at 9 p.m. EST. Games are also scheduled for Friday, April 7, and Saturday, April 9.
