Damian Anisko, Terri Emond Named Academic All-District Selections

Damian Anisko and Terri Emond were voted ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five honorees, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA). Anisko was named to the First Team and will move on to the national ballot where he is eligible for Academic All-America consideration, while Emond was a Second Team selection.
Anisko, a junior who competes in the throwing events, is an exercise science major with a 3.97 grade-point average. Most recently, at the BIG EAST outdoor championship, he placed sixth overall in the hammer throw (175'8"/53.55m) and eighth in the discus (158'4"/48.25m). Indoors, Anisko placed 10th in the 35 lb. weight (55'5"). The Mississauga, Ontario native is also a two-time recipient of the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.
Emond, a senior distance runner, compiled a 3.90 grade-point average in chemistry. She was one of the top runners on Marquette's 2005 cross country team, which placed third at the BIG EAST Championship and sixth at the NCAA Great Lakes regional before qualifying for the NCAA Championship. On the track, she was sixth in the 3,000m steeplechase at the 2006 BIG EAST Championship and competed at the 2006 NCAA Mideast regional in the same event. Emond, a native of Wyoming, Minn., is also a two-time recipient of the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal in 2004 & 2005.
