MILWAUKEE - For many, it is a life-long dream to step onto a big-league baseball field. To trot out onto the freshly cut grass, grab the dirt when scooping up a ground ball, and hear the roar of the crowd is a fantasy, only made true in the backyard or a sandlot. Tonight, Marquette University volleyball head coach Pati Rolf gets to live the dream as she tosses out the first pitch when the Milwaukee Brewers take on the Colorado Rockies at Miller Park.
"It is a great honor to throw out a pitch at a Brewers game," described Rolf. "It's an exciting event, especially here in Milwaukee. I love the Brewers. Now let's just hope I get it to home plate!"
Winners in five of their last seven games, the Brewers (60-65) host the Rockies (59-66) in game two of a three-game series. Milwaukee is separated by just five teams and 5.5 games for the lead in the National League wild card chase, and is now only 6.5 games back in the Central Division.
The Brewers won game one of the series last night, 4-1. Tonight's contest has a 7:05 p.m. scheduled start as Ben Sheets (3-5) will take to the mound for Milwaukee against Colorado's Byung-Hyun Kim (7-8).
The Golden Eagles open their 2006 season on the road this weekend when they travel to Durham, N.C., to take on Duke, Virginia Commonwealth and Gardner-Webb in the Duke Invitational.
