Christina Quaye Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

MILWAUKEE - Senior forward Christina Quaye was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll announced Monday, January 15, by BIG EAST Conference officials. This is Quaye's second selection this season. She was previously named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Nov. 27.
Quaye averaged 21.5 points and eight rebounds on the week when Marquette (16-2, 4-1 BIG EAST) went 1-1 first losing at no. 23 Pittsburgh, 91-87, in overtime on Jan. 9, and then defeating Villanova, 70-76, on Jan 13. She topped her previous career high of 26 points with a game high 29 points at Pittsburgh on 50 percent shooting from the field (10-of-20). Her 20 attempts from the field at Pitt were also a career high. Quaye scored the game-tying layup in the final seconds of regulation to push to game at Pitt to put the score at 72-72 and push the game to overtime.
She followed up that career night with 14 points while not committing a turnover against Wildcats. Her 14 points against Nova marked the 15th game this season and fifth consecutive game the senior forward scored in double figures. Quaye also led the team on the glass in both games tallying nine rebounds at Pitt and seven against Villanova.
Quaye is currently second on the team in scoring with 15.7 ppg and leads the team in rebounding with 6.4 rpg.
The no. 19 Golden Eagles will return to action Saturday, Jan. 20, at Providence at noon CST.
