MILWAUKEE - Marquette volleyball head coach Pati Rolf has announced the addition of Ashlee Fisher to the Golden Eagle squad for the start of play in 2007. Fisher, a middle blocker and outside hitter, joins MU after playing for two seasons at Kentucky where last season she helped lead the Wildcats to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
"It is nice to have a local talent from Wisconsin," said head coach Pati Rolf. "Someone with her experience and background will be a welcomed addition to this team. Fisher will also bring leadership which is strength for any program."
A native of West Bend, Wis., the 5-foot-11-inch Fisher ranked second for Kentucky last season with 3.24 kills per game and was third with 375 points. As a freshman she tallied 2.95 kills per game, ranking third on the team. As a senior at West Bend West High School, Fisher helped guide her team to the Wisconsin state title match and was named to the all-tournament team. She was also a fifth team all-state selection by the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches' Association.
The 2006 Marquette volleyball team concluded its season with a 16-15 record and reached the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament.
