Katie Kelly Plays with Region II Olympic Development Select Team

MILWAUKEE - Sophomore defender Katie Kelly is spending her winter break from class training and playing with the Region II Olympic Development Select Team in Los Angeles, Calif. She will train with the team from January 3-7.
Kelly, a regular selection for the Region II ODP team, will compete against teams from the three other regions in a round-robin tournament format. U.S. National Team staff will be on hand to identify and evaluate the players attending this event. The games/training is part of the selection and identification process for U.S. National Team Programs.
Kelly, one of Marquette's most dangerous defenders, started in all 23 matches during the 2006 season totaling 46 for her career. She was Marquette's secret weapon on offense in 2006 dishing a team high eight assists for the season - third best single season total in school history. Kelly totaled 10 points in 2006 to rank her fourth on the team in scoring. For her career she has registered 21 points on four goals and 13 assists.
During the 2006 season Kelly was a two-time BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week selection. She was the only player in the conference to earn repeat defensive player of the week honors. Following the 2006 season she earned Soccer Buzz Third Team. As a freshman Kelly was named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team, Soccer Buzz All-Freshman team and earned Soccer Buzz Freshman All-America Honorable Mention honors.
