Women's Basketball Opens Exhibition Play Saturday

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's basketball team will host Concordia (St. Paul) in its first exhibition game of the 2007-08 season on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Al McGuire Center. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
Marquette opens the regular season against Loyola at the Al McGuire Center on Monday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m.
The Golden Eagles return to Al McGuire Court after a historic 2006-07 season where Marquette won a school record 26 wins, finished tied for second in the BIG EAST Conference and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Six letterwinners return for Marquette including Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention and First Team All-BIG EAST selection Krystal Ellis who led the team in scoring with 18.0 points per game.
The Golden Eagles welcome six freshmen to their roster: Jasmine Collins (Detroit, Mich.), Paige Fiedorowicz (Johnsburg, Ill.), Tatiyiana McMorris (Bronx, N.Y.), Jocelyn Mellen (Dixon, Ill.), Angel Robinson (St. Paul, Minn.) and Courtney Weibel (Rockton, Ill.).
Concordia, a NCAA Division II program in St. Paul, Minn., won the NSIC 2006-07 championship and was picked as the preseason favorite for the 2007-08 season. The Golden Bears return 11 letterwinners, six of which are seniors, and all five starters including NSIC Preseason Player of the Year Amanda Behnke. Last season, Concordia went 22-10 overall and advanced to the Division II Regional Semifinals.
Season ticket holders are able to pick up their season ticket t-shirts on the west concourse on Saturday, Nov. 3 and Wednesday, Nov. 7. One t-shirt per season ticket purchase.
