MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's basketball team will travel to Green Bay for its 34th all-time meeting with the Phoenix on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the newly built Kress Events Center. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
Marquette student radio - WMUR - will broadcast the game live over the internet on www.gomarquette.com. Live stats via gametracker will also be available.
Green Bay owns the all-time advantage, 27-6, in a series that dates back to 1980. Marquette won the last meeting, 67-63, on Nov. 20, 2006, at the Al McGuire Center. The Golden Eagles will look to make it two-in-a-row and snap Green Bay's 17-game home court winning streak Saturday.
Marquette has spread the wealth when it comes to scoring as the Golden Eagles have boasted four different leading scorers in the first five games. In MU's last time out, against William & Mary, junior Marissa Thrower was MU's spark off the bench as she registered a career-best 19 points.
Senior Svetlana Kovalenko leads the Golden Eagles with 11.4 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game.
Angel Robinson continues to give Marquette significant minutes with the absence of All-America candidate Krystal Ellis. In an average of 25.2 minutes per game, Robinson has contributed 9.2 points, 3.6 assists and 3.6 steals. Her 3.6 spg rank second in the BIG EAST.
Green Bay returns six letterwinners, two of which were starters, from last season's squad that went 29-4 overall, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Phoenix are coming of a 76-54 win over Northern Illinois in their home opener. Rachel Porath leads Green Bay with 16.5 ppg. She posted her second consecutive 20-point game against the Huskies.
Head coach Matt Bollant is in his first season at Green Bay. He replaced Kevin Borseth who is the head coach at Michigan.
