Marquette Takes Indoor Tournament Title

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's soccer team kicked off its spring season with its fifth annual friendly indoor tournament held Saturday, March 3, at the Marquette Gym. The Marquette Gold team and Marquette Blue team advanced out of its respective brackets to meet in the championship match. The Marquette gold team defeated the Marquette blue team, 3-0, to win the indoor tournament.
Nearly 25 Marquette women's soccer alumni participated to form two teams in the tournament along with players from Wis.-Stevens Point and Wis.-Whitewater.
"It was good for our team to play in a competitive environment," said head coach Markus Roeders. "After several weeks of team training, individuals and conditioning, the ladies embraced the chance to play some outside competition. It is always special to have our alumni in town, playing and spending time with our current squad. They are the foundation of our Marquette Soccer Family and they are as competitive as they were during their playing days."
The Golden Eagles will return to action at the University of Kansas on Saturday, March 31, to play the Jayhawks and Iowa.
