MILWAUKEE - Marquette volleyball senior outside hitter Nicole Wallace was recognized with the Student Affairs Leadership Award for Outstanding Contributions to Recreation, Health and Wellness, Sunday, at the AMU Ballroom.
This was the 39th year the Division of Student Affairs has recognized student contributions to missions and activities of various student affair areas with leadership awards. Students are nominated by staff throughout the university and are selected by a committee representing each of the student affairs departments, Intercollegiate Athletics, and University Ministry.
"Nicole is very deserving of this honor and we are very proud that she was recognized with this award," said assistant coach Erica Heisser. "We are glad all of her efforts were able to be recognized by the university. She has been involved in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for many years and has done a great job with community outreach programs with our team."
Twice a Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and BIG EAST Academic All Star, Wallace has volunteered many hours of her free time to various organizations in her four years at Marquette. A few include spending time in the second grade classroom at the Lloyd Street School, aiding children with their work, and at the Milwaukee Center for Independence, providing health information and exercise for older adults with physical or cognitive impairments, along with raising money for breast cancer through 'Dig for a Cure'.
Wallace will graduate with a degree in Physical Therapy in May and has been accepted into the Physical Therapy Graduate Program where she plans to further her education.
