Golf Tied for Third After Round One at Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W. VA. - The Marquette golf team is tied for third after round one of the 16-team Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W. Va on the par-71, 6,476-yard course. The Golden Eagles shot 290 in the first round and are eight strokes off the pace of Ball State, who leads the tournament. Mike Van Sickle carded a three-under par 68 and is tied for the lead after 18 holes.
Five strokes back of Van Sickle is Michael Bielawski, who shot a two-over par 73, good for a tie for 26th. Mike McDonald checked in next with a three-over par 74 (T-38), followed by Dustin Schwab, who scored a four-over par 75 (T-47), and Ted Gray, who carded a five-over par 76 (T-55).
Two rounds were originally scheduled for Friday, but snow halted action with four holes remaining on the second 18. Weather permitting, teams will finish second round play tomorrow at 9 a.m. EDT and then continue on to the final round.
