Sophomore guard Erin Monfre and center Kelly Lam along with assistant coaches Michelle Nason and Jennie Lillis spent Tuesday afternoon at Christ King Catholic School in Wauwatosa speaking to fourth through eighth grade students. Christ King was the winner of the 2006-07 Women's Basketball School Rewards Program. It had the most representation from its student body at home women's basketball games this last season.
While at Christ King, Monfre and Lam spoke about the importance of excellence in academics as well as in athletics, and what it takes to be a student-athlete. The students had the opportunity to ask both players and coaches questions, and answer trivia questions for prizes. A friendly relay competition was held between Christ King faculty and students with the faculty winning the race. With the defeat, the students had to do pushups.
The Women's Basketball School Rewards Program was open to all public and private schools in the city of Milwaukee as well as in its surrounding communities. School-aged students were able to sign up at the Fun Zone during the game to help gain points for their school.
