MILWAUKEE - Marquette senior Kimberley Todd, a right side hitter for the Golden Eagles volleyball team, was named to the Canadian National Team, as announced by Team Canada. After a four-day selection camp held at the Team Canada Volleyball Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Todd was one of 26 athletes selected for competition.
"I'm really excited to have the opportunity to represent my country," said Todd. "This has been something I've been working for since my very first national team tryout camp."
The intense, four-day camp included a period of time dedicated to ball control and skill work while the majority of the time was spent playing matches. Todd, one of three right side hitters selected, will now train with the team for the rest of the summer. Two teams will now be formed, a 12-man senior team and a 12-man FISU team.
"I was a little nervous before the first session started," explained Todd. "Once we started playing, many of the veteran players were so positive and energetic, it was impossible to be anxious, nervous or disappointed in your play. Coach Rolf talks a lot about positive attitude and great effort and there are many great players who bring a lot to the floor. I'm really hoping to learn a lot this summer."
