Todd Named Finalist for Pedro Arrupe Award

MILWAUKEE - Junior Kimberley Todd, an outside hitter on the Marquette volleyball team, has been named a finalist for the Pedro Arrupe Award. This annual honor is presented to an outstanding junior models the values and ideals of the former superior general of the Society of Jesus by living a life committed to serving the poor and leading others to explore the link between faith and justice. The Pedro Arrupe Award is for an outstanding junior, man or women, who espouses the values and ideals of Father Arrupe.
Todd is one of five finalists for the award, all of whom will be invited to the Pedro Arrupe Awards reception and dinner on Sept. 21.
She works closely with the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), helping organize the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Bowling for Kids Sake tournament, and has volunteered her time helping second grade students at the Lloyd Street School. Todd has also been involved in annual food and clothing drives, Dig for a Cure and volunteers in health care.
Todd finished her junior season earning AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and All-BIG EAST First Team honors after leading the conference and tying for 17th in NCAA Division I with 4.81 kills per game. She set Marquette single-season records with 544 kills and 1,323 attempts, and moved into third place on the career-kills list with 1,235. Twice she was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll and three times (Gator Conference Challenge, Marquette Challenge and Michigan/Pepsi Challenge) was named to all-tournament teams.
