Milwaukee - Marquette guard Dominic James has withdrawn his name from consideration for the 2007 NBA Draft and will return to the Golden Eagles for his junior season, he announced Sunday night.
"My outlook is completely positive. I discussed it over with my family, and it's the best thing for me. I had an assessment from the GMs and scouts and all that but I feel like the most important assessment was the assessment of myself," said James.
James had declared for the draft on April 26 but never signed with an agent, leaving open the possibility of returning to school
James added, "You've got to be honest with yourself throughout this entire process because it's my career. I feel like another year of college, or maybe even two, will set me up for the future."
In 2006-07, James was an All-America honorable mention selection by the Associated Press, becoming the 11th student-athlete all time for Marquette to be recognized as an AP All-American. He was also a member of the BIG EAST All-Conference First Team as a sophomore.
James led the Golden Eagles in scoring, averaging 14.9 points per game. He also led the team and ranked fourth in the BIG EAST with 167 assists and was second on the MU squad and fourth in the conference with 64 steals.
The Golden Eagles return their top seven scorers from last year's team which won 24 games, including 10 in conference play, and reached the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.
