Robinson Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

MILWAUKEE - Freshman guard Angel Robinson and junior guard Krystal Ellis were honored by the BIG EAST Monday afternoon following back-to-back wins as Robinson was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week and Ellis to the league's honor roll.
Robinson averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and totaled six assists and seven steals in Marquette's wins over Western Michigan (78-74) on Jan. 2 and Providence (72-43) on Jan. 5.
She paced Marquette with a team-high 16 points against the Friars and added six rebounds, four assists and three steals in 22 minutes of action. The 16 points and six rebounds were career highs for the freshman guard. This is Robinson's second Freshman of the Week award this season. She previously earned the honor on Dec. 17.

Ellis averaged 22.0 points for the week that included an Al McGuire Center record 32 points against Western Michigan. She finished the week connecting on 17-of-28 shots, 7-of-14 from long range, and added eight assists, six rebounds and five steals.
The Golden Eagles return to action hosting No. 5/6 Rutgers on Tuesday, Jan. 8. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center.
