The Marquette women's basketball team has just announced its promotional schedule for the upcoming 2008-09 season. This season is filled with fun and exciting extra incentives for fans to catch all of the action the Marquette women's basketball team has to offer. Highlights of the season promotions include the fourth annual "Pink Out," holiday door buster events during the WBCA Classic, and "Pack the Al" night.
The Golden Eagles will officially open their 2008-09 campaign against Oral Roberts on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m., and will celebrate MU's 2008 WNIT Championship. At half-time, the nationally renowned Alexandria Aces, a ball-handling show team, will perform.
Once again this season, Marquette will be selling pink Marquette women's basketball t-shirts all season long starting at MU's game against Oral Roberts for $10 with all proceeds going to the Milwaukee Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Program and the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. The t-shirts will also be available online at www.shop.marquette.edu. Last year, Marquette sold out of its pink t-shirts and raised over $8,000 for the the MBCCAP and the Kay Yow Foundation. The Golden Eagles will host its fourth annual "Pink Out" to coinside with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Pink Zone on Sunday, Feb. 15 against West Virginia at 1 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
The Golden Eagles are hosting the WBCA Classic, one of the premier Thanksgiving tournaments in the continental United States Nov. 28-30. Pairing with the Thanksgiving holiday weekend shopping bonanza, Marquette is offering 25 percent off coupons for the Marquette Spirit Shop with each ticket purchased all weekend long. Saturday, Nov. 29, against Virginia, it will be a holiday frenzy with door-busting prizes given away throughout the game.
Marquette wants to "Pack the Al" with 4,000 or more fans for its game against reigning BIG EAST Champion Connecticut on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. All fans in attendance will receive a gold rally towel and are encouraged to wear gold that night.
The Golden Eagles will play two exhibition games prior to their season opener on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. against Winona State and Monday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. against Wis.-Parkside.
