Marquette Head Coach Terri Mitchell
To what do you attribute Krystal's slow start tonight?
"Sometimes a player can want something so much, that they play the opposite way. Obviously I give UConn's defense so much credit but I think she wanted it and she was putting up some shots off balance. She didn't let the game come to her and then it just multiplied."
What do you tell the team at halftime when down 38?
"That we are here to get better and that we're not the first team to have that kind of performance against the number one team in the nation. This conference is to make us tougher and better and I'm more considered how we finished the game then what we did. We can't change it and you move on and you have to leave the second half as the impression because we have a game on Saturday that we have to focus on."
What can you learn from this that will help the team prepare for the tournament?
"You can't start a game like this. You can't start any game the way we started it. Transition defense, letting them shoot 70-percent, beating us down the court and think that we're going to have a chance. We dug ourselves way too big of a hole and our frustration took over. When we learn to start a game well with the top teams of the country, we are going to be well off because we know how to run an offense and do things that we started terrible tonight."
Does Maya Moore deserve to be considered for the BIG EAST and the National Player of the Year?
"Absolutely. I never look at age when I vote. I look at what a player has done. And we are talking about the leading scorer of the number one team in the nation. Why would you penalize her and say well she's a freshman, does she deserve it? Look at where her team is and, let's just say, she wasn't playing for UConn, would they be where they are at? I don't know. I can't answer that question; all I can do is look at the facts. I look at what she did against us tonight and every game I've watched and I will never look at age when voting, I will only look at the impact a player has made and she has made a tremendous impact."
