Golden Eagles to Meet DePaul in the BIG EAST Tournament

The Marquette women's basketball team will make its third appearance in the BIG EAST Conference Tournament at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., March 8-11.
The Golden Eagles enter the tournament as the No. 8 seed and will play No. 9 seed DePaul in the first round on Saturday, March 8, at 1 p.m. CT.
Predicted to finish eighth, the Golden Eagles won eight times in BIG EAST play and finished right where they were predicted in the preseason.
Marquette is 20-28 all-time against the Blue Demons in a series that dates back to 1978. Marquette and DePaul will square-off for the second time this season. The Golden Eagles won the first meeting in Milwaukee, 65-56, on Jan. 19.
In conference tournament play, the Golden Eagles are 2-0 all-time against the Blue Demons as members of Conference USA. Marquette won both games, 80-65 in the 1997 Quarterfinals and 74-70 in the 2004 Quarterfinals. It will be the first time the long-time foes meet in the BIG EAST Conference Tournament.
Should Marquette advance past its first round game, it would play on Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. ET against No. 1 seed Connecticut in the quarterfinals.
A win over the?No. 1/1 Huskies would pit Marquette against the winner of No. 4 Notre Dame vs No. 5 Pittsburgh/No. 12 Villanova in the BIG?EAST?Semifinals on Monday, March 10 at 6 p.m. ET, on ESPNU.
The championship game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. ET.
Marquette's first round game is set to air on BIG?EAST?Regional Television, locally on Time Warner Sports, while the quarterfinal and semifinal games will air on ESPNU. The championship game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
