MILWAUKEE -
The 2008 WNIT Champion Marquette women's basketball team is already looking ahead to the 2008-09 season as are its critics. The future is bright for the Golden Eagles as Charlie Creme of ESPN.com ranked MU No. 25 in its "Pre-, Pre-, Preseason Top 25." Including Marquette, five teams in the BIG EAST are ranked in Creme's Top 25. Connecticut was tabbed No. 1 followed by Rutgers at No. 4, Louisville at No. 10 and Notre Dame at No. 17.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 21-14 overall record for the 2007-08 campaign that was capped by a season-high five game win streak and the WNIT Championship. Tournament MVP and First Team All-BIG EAST selection Krystal Ellis will return for her senior season to lead the Golden Eagles. Along with Ellis, Marquette returns four starters, including All BIG EAST Freshman selection Angel Robinson, and seven letterwinners to the 2008-09 team.
