The Marquette University men's basketball team was recognized at Miller Park Thursday evening prior to the Brewers' matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays and head coach Buzz Williams threw the ceremonial first pitch.
Wearing an official Brewers jersey with "Williams" on the back, the first-year head coach tried to paint the outside corner and despite the best efforts of backup catcher Mike Rivera, he just missed the strike zone.
"I was honored that the Brewers would allow our team to be a part of the pregame ceremonies tonight," Williams said. "It was another great opportunity for our players to be a part of the community. They were all genuinely grateful and enjoyed watching the multiple home runs and victory by the Brewers."
All of the returning players and members of the coaching staff were on hand for the first pitch and had a first-hand view of Williams' offering from behind the mound.
The Brewers claimed the interleague series opener 7-0, making the team 2-0 in games when MU throws the first pitch. Head women's basketball coach Terri Mitchell stepped to the mound on Sunday prior to Milwaukee's 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
