MILWAUKEE - For the second straight year, Mike Van Sickle of Marquette University has been named a PING All-America selection, announced recently by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Van Sickle, who completed his junior season in 2007-08, garnered honorable mention, which he also earned following the 2006-07 season.
Van Sickle posted a 71.39 scoring average in 13 events in 2007-08, including a total of 27 rounds of par-or-better - both single-season school records. His six collegiate victories is an all-time high at Marquette, as is the three victories won during his junior campaign.
A two-time All-BIG EAST and PING All-Midwest Region selection, Van Sickle finished this past season ranked No. 29 in the Golfstat Cup and No. 48 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index which rank the nation's top collegiate golfers throughout the year.
Van Sickle helped the Golden Eagles win three events last season, including the school's first BIG EAST title. Marquette also earned its first-ever berth to the NCAA Division I Championship by virtue of winning the 2008 BIG EAST Championship in April.
