BROOKFIELD, Wis. - Over 120 friends, family and loyal supporters participated in the third annual Marquette Soccer Caddyshack Classic presented by KBS Contruction at Westmoor Country Club Monday. All proceeds generated from the event benefited the men and women's soccer programs.
"It was a fantastic day of golf for Marquette Soccer," said head women's coach Markus Roeders. "We are very appreciative of the loyal support of former players, parents, alumni, friends of the program and the Marquette community. You could feel the excitement that all have for the upcoming season for both MU Soccer programs."
"It's wonderful to see the level of support we have for Marquette soccer," said head men's coach Louis Bennett. "On behalf of the entire men's program, I'd like to thank all of the participants and those who continue to support the team through such events as the Caddyshack Classic. Their commitment is essential to the long-term success of Marquette soccer. The staff at Westmoor Country Club and all of our terrific sponsors also deserve a hand for helping make this a special event each summer."
In its third year, the 120 golfers who participated enjoyed a perfect summer day on the links under sunny skies. Both head coaches, along with their coaching staffs and current players joined the attendees for another beautiful day of golf and Marquette soccer.
The men's and women's teams will combine to host 22 home games at Valley Fields in 2008. The Golden Eagles will kickoff the '08 campaign with their second-annual Fan Fest on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Valley Fields. The women's team will host Wisconsin for an exhibition match at 5 p.m., while the men will hold its Blue versus Gold match to coincide with the festivities.
"Overall, I thought it was a great day to 'kickoff' the year and make folks aware of our slate of over 20 homes games combined at Valley Fields," added Roeders.
