Marquette Set to Host No. 10 Notre Dame

The Marquette women's basketball team will face one of its toughest tasks of the season when No. 10 Notre Dame pays a visit to the Al McGuire Center on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The nationally televised 8 p.m. tip-off can be seen live on CBS College Sports Network with Ann Schatz and Tammy Blackburn calling the action. The game marks the first of four national broadcasts for MU this season.
The game will also be available to view online on gomarquette.com on a pay per use basis.
It can also be heard via the airwaves on 540 AM ESPN Radio with Kent Sommerfeld and Tony Matera on the call.
The Golden?Eagles (10-6, 1-1 BI G EAST) will look to get back on the winning track after a 65-55 setback at Seton Hall. Sophomore Angel Robinson gave a second-consecutive 20-plus point performance and added six rebounds against the Pirates. Currently Robinson leads the team with 13.9 ppg, a mark that stands 19th in the BIG EAST, while her 22.0 point scoring average in BIG EAST games ranks fifth in the league.
Winners of its last seven straight, Notre Dame (14-1, 3-0 BIG EAST) is one of three teams in the league that is currently undefeated in BIG EAST play. Louisville (3-0) and Connecticut (2-0) are the others. The Fighting Irish's only loss was on December 10 in overtime at Michigan, 63-59.
Lindsay Schrader leads a trio of Irish players in double figures with 12.6 ppg, and is also the team's best rebounder with 6.7 rebounds per game. Ashley Barlow and Melissa Lechliter follow with 12.0 and 10.7 ppg, respectively. Collectively, the Irish average the league's fourth highest scoring average, 76.1 ppg.
Marquette will encounter the Fighting Irish for the 36th time in a series that commenced in 1976. Notre Dame holds the advantage in the all-time series 28-7. Notre Dame defeated Marquette, 99-67, at the Joyce Center in the two team's last meeting on Feb. 13, 2008. Marquette last defeated the Irish on Jan. 23, 2007, 71-62, at the Al McGuire Center to mark the first time head coach Terri Mitchell defeated the Irish in her 12-year career at Marquette.
