The Marquette women's basketball team will host its final home game of the month of January Tuesday night when Syracuse pays a visit to the Al McGuire Center. The 7 p.m. tip-off can be seen live on Time Warner Sports 32 with Kareeda Chones-Aguam and Steve "The Homer" True calling all of the action. It can also be heard via the airwaves on WJYI 1340 AM with Kent Sommerfeld and Tony Matera on the call.
Head coach Terri Mitchell celebrated her 250th career win last week, a 80-65 victory at Georgetown. Sophomore Angel Robinson had a 19-point effort for the game, including 13 points in the second half. Robinson earned her second consecutive BIG EAST Honor Roll nod. Freshman Jessica Pachko had a dominating performance with a career-high 16 points, all of which were scored in the second half. She scored nine points in just under nine minutes to help the Golden Eagles overcome a 11-point half-time deficit.
Senior guard Krystal Ellis is closing in on MU's all-time scoring record. She has 1,794 points and needs 25 points to break Abbie Willenborg's record (1,818 points; 1997-2000). Her 1,794 points place her second on MU's all-time scoring list and she is the fifth player in program history to score over 1,700 career points.
The Orange are 13-6 overall, 2-4 in conference after losing their last three games to Seton Hall, Uconn and Pittsburgh.
Erica Morrow leads the Orange in scoring with 17.6 points per game, while Chandrea Jones and Nicole Michael average 15.9 and 13.3 points, respectively, each with over eight rebounds per game as well.
