Compty, McBride and Miller Named NSCAA All-Central Region

MILWAUKEE - Three members of the Marquette women's soccer team were recognized for their outstanding work on the pitch as well as in the classroom by being named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/ adidas Scholar All-Central Region Team. Juniors Katie Miller and Michelle Compty were third team selections, while classmate Allison McBride earned honorable mention honors.
Miller, a marketing major who boasts a 4.0 overall grade-point average, was a key member of Marquette's defense for 14 games this season before being sidelined due to injury. She helped MU to register six shutouts while seeing 1,195 minutes of action.
Miller was also named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 team. Compty, majoring in exercise science with an overall grade-point average of 3.40, started in 19 of 22 games. She finished the 2008 campaign with two assists.
McBride was a strong presence in MU's backline while starting in 21 of 22 games. She scored her first career goal in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament, and was the second defender this season to find the back of the net. McBride is a nursing major with a 3.50 GPA.
