MILWAUKEE -- Marquette volleyball head coach Bond Shymansky has announced the addition of setter Nikki Klingsporn to the squad for the 2009 season. Klingsporn, a transfer from the University of Wisconsin, has enrolled for the spring semester at Marquette and will begin participating with the team during the spring season.
"Nikki is a great addition to our program," said Shymansky. "She brings talent, work ethic, strong experience, and very gifted setting hands to Marquette volleyball."
Klingsporn comes to MU after completing her redshirt sophomore season at Wisconsin where she earned her second straight Academic All-Big Ten honor. She will have two full years of eligibility remaining at Marquette.
"We are working hard right now to keep the momentum of the program moving in a positive direction," Shymansky said. "We have everything here that we need to be successful, and it's great to know that players of Nikki's caliber can see that vision already."
The 5-foot-10 native of Oakdale, Minn., (Tartan) led the Badgers in assists with 6.36 per set while sharing the setting duties and led the team in service aces with 33. Klingsporn saw action in all 32 matches during the season, starting 26 while averaging 1.74 digs. She recorded five double-doubles last season and tied a career high with 47 assists against Michigan State. Klingsporn moved up to tenth on the career assist list at UW, notching a total of 887 in her two years.
