Golden Eagles Host UW-Stout in Exhibition Opener Saturday

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's basketball team will host UW-Stout in its first exhibition game of the 2009-10 season on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Al McGuire Center. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. Live audio will be provided online courtesy of WMUR.
Marquette opens the regular season against St. Francis (Pa.) at "The Al" on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 17-16 2008-09 campaign that ended with a 51-50 loss at Illinois State in the third round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
All-BIG?EAST?Preseason Team selection junior Angel Robinson returns for her junior season as well as BIG?EAST All-Freshman team honoree Jessica Pachko. Robinson led the Golden Eagles in scoring last season with an average of 13.9 points per game, and was the team's second-leading rebounder with 5.0 rebounds per game. Pachko chipped in 8.9 ppg and a team-high 5.6 rpg.
One newcomer joins Marquette in Milwaukee-native Sarina Simmons.

UW-Stout, a NCAA Division III program, went 16-11 overall, 10-6 in the WIAC during the 2008-09 season, and advanced to the second round of the WIAC Tournament. The Blue Devils return nine letterwinners including Julia Hirssing, an All-WIAC and second team All-America selection who averaged 18.9 ppg and 10. 7 rpg.
The two teams last met in 2005, with Marquette earning 80-58 win in exhibition play at the Al McGuire Center.
Season ticket packages start at just $40. Two hundred and fifty chairbacks in sections 101, 105, 111 and 115 have been added to the lower bowl of the Al McGuire Center. Season tickets in those sections are just $75.
