Marquette Closes Out Exhibition Season Against Beloit College

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's basketball team will close out exhibition play at the Al McGuire Center Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m., against Beloit College. The game can be heard live online courtesy of WMUR.
The game against the Buccaneers will be the Golden Eagles' final tune-up prior to their regular season opener against St. Francis (Pa.) at the Al McGuire Center on Saturday, Nov. 14. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
Marquette began the exhibition potion of its schedule with a 118-71 rout of UW-Stout on Oct. 31. For the game, Marquette shot 59.5 percent (47-of-79). All 10 active players chipped in points against the Blue Devils, including seven in double-digits.
Sarina Simmons led the way with 19, while Jocelyn Mellen and Lauren Thomas-Johnson each added 14, Janelle Harris, Angel Robinson and Jasmine Collins each contributed 13 and Georgie Jones scored 10. Robinson distributed the ball effectively registering 11 assists, while swiping four steals.
Beloit College, a NCAA Division III program, finished the 2008-09 season with a record of 15-9 overall, 12-4 in the Midwest Conference. This year, the Buccaneers' roster includes only one newcomer, as 12 letterwinners will return to the court.
Notable returns include senior Mary Parker, an All-Midwest Conference First Team guard who averaged 10.2 ppg, 6.3 rebounds per game and 4.1 assists per game, and junior Diana Sopkowicz who led the team in field goal percentage (.558) and blocked shots (27).
Season ticket packages start at just $40. Two hundred and fifty chairbacks in sections 101, 105, 111 and 115 have been added to the lower bowl of the Al McGuire Center. Season tickets in those sections are just $75.
