The Marquette women's basketball team will look for its third consecutive victory Saturday, Feb. 21, when it host St. John's at the Al McGuire Center. The 3 p.m. tip-off will air over BIG EAST regional networks and locally on Time Warner Sports 32 with Beth Mowins and Brooke Weisbrod calling the action. Saturday is "Throwback Day" as part of alumni weekend. The Golden Eagles will be sporting jerseys worn during the late 1970s in pre-game warmups. It is also Dollar Day. Hot dogs, sodas and general admission tickets are all only $1. All Marquette women's basketball alumni in attendance will be introduced at halftime.
The Golden Eagles (15-11, 6-6 BIG EAST) are coming off a 67-61 win at Cincinnati Wednesday. Sophomore guard Angel Robinson led all scorers with 17 points, while senior Krystal Ellis and freshman Jessica Pachko chipped in 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Robinson continues to lead the Golden Eagles with 13.9 points per game, 15.2 in BIG EAST play.
Following its game against the Redstorm, Marquette will hit the road for two games at Providence (Feb. 25) and at DePaul (Feb. 28) before closing out the season at home against nationally ranked Louisville (March 2).
Marquette is 4-1 all-time against the Redstorm. The Golden Eagles won each of the first four meetings, but St. John's earned the most recent victory, 77-67, in Queens, Feb. 2, 2008.
The Red Storm (15-10, 3-9 BIG EAST) enter play losers of three straight after dropping a 89-60 decision at No. 8/9 Louisville on Tuesday. After starting the season 13-1, the Red Storm have lost nine of their last 11 games.
