MILWAUKEE-- In the Marquette volleyball squad's final competition of the spring season, the team dropped a five-set match to cross-town foe Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 3-2.
"The team competed hard this afternoon," said assistant coach Craig Dyer. "We are proud of the fight the showed and where they have come from during the spring."
After taking the first set by a score of 26-24, the Golden Eagles lost two straight, 20-25 and 19-25 to put them in a 2-1 hole. MU would then come back to capture a 25-21 victory in the fourth set to pull the match even before the Panthers closed out the match 15-11 in the final stanza.
Unofficial statistics show freshman Ciara Jones led the Golden Eagles with over 20 kills and sophomore-transfer Nikki Klingsporn's setting abilities aided the team greatly.
