The 2009-10 Marquette University men's basketball schedule is now finalized, following the announcement of the league schedule by the BIG EAST Conference office Thursday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles will have a quick turnaround for the league opener following the conclusion of the non-league slate Dec. 27 against Presbyterian. MU will travel to West Virginia on Dec. 29 in the conference lidlifter for both programs and the matchup will mark the first-ever BIG EAST matchup in the month of December for Marquette.
The quality and depth of the BIG EAST will be on display in MU's opening four games of the conference campaign, with each of those outings featuring matchups against programs ranked in the preseason top-25. Following the trip to West Virginia, the Golden Eagles will host Villanova (Jan. 2) and Georgetown (Jan. 6) before hitting the road to face the Wildcats for the second time in seven days.
The final seven regular-season games includes four home contests, but also features a three-game road swing (at Cincinnati, at St. John's, at Seton Hall) in late February. Prior to the conference tournament, MU fans will have the chance to see both Louisville (March 2) and Notre Dame (March 6) at the Bradley Center.
Season tickets are still available for as little as $99 and include all 18 home games. Two separate five-game mini-plans are also on sale for as little as $75 and include the nine BIG EAST games plus North Carolina State.
Start times for MU's BIG EAST games have only been released for the national television matchups. Remaining television coverage and opening tips will be determined in the upcoming weeks.
Blue Mini-Plan: Villanova, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, NC St., Rutgers
Gold Mini-Plan: Louisville, Notre Dame, DePaul, USF, Providence
