"These games have been entertaining for the fans and they shouldn't expect any less on Thursday. We hope for a great crowd, it adds to the quality of the match. Many games have been decided by one goal because both programs believe in strong defenses. There won't be many secrets on either side so it comes down to the team that steps up and converts their chances. We took a step forward with our play this past weekend and the two shutout wins over Rice and Michigan. Our attacking is very good in the build up but we have to finish those chances. Defensively, our unit is reshaped and coming together nicely."
After claiming the MKE Cup with a two wins over Michigan (6-0) and Rice (1-0) UWM enters the game with a 24-game unbeaten streak at Englemann Field. MKE?Tournament MVP Kate Megna leads the Panthers offense with two goals and three assists.
The Golden Eagles are 5-7-5 all-time against UWM. Marquette last came away victorious at Englemann Field on Nov. 1, 2001 (3-0). Six of the 17 meetings needed extra periods to decide the game, while nine games have been decided by one goal. Each of the last two meetings between the Golden?Eagles and Panthers at Englemann Field were 0-0 draws.
The Golden Eagles enter the match with UWM on a two-match win streak after shutting out Rice and Michigan, 1-0, in the MKE?Cup last weekend. Sophomore Lindsey Page leads MU's attack with team-high two goals. She scored the game winner in the 1-0 win over Michigan last Sunday.
