MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's soccer team received BIG EAST honors for the third consecutive week, announced Monday, as sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Kulla and senior forward Becky Ryan were named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Kulla, who was also named to the Honor Roll the weeks of Sept. 7 and 14, posted wins over USF and Western Michigan, including her sixth shutout of the season at WMU on Sunday. She totaled seven saves and faced 15 shots over two games. Her 0.44 goals against average ranks 21st in the nation, and third in the BIG EAST. Her save percentage of .871 is second in the conference, and her six shutouts are tied for the league lead. Kulla has played every minute of every match in goal this season, surrendering just four goals in 818 minutes. She is the only BIG EAST student-athlete to be named to the Honor Roll three times this season.
Ryan was involved in two game-winning goals in the Golden Eagles' 2-0 week. In the conference lidlifter against USF, the senior forward provided the game-winning assist in Kerry McBride's goal in the 89th minute, and scored the game-winning goal in the 2-0 win over Western Michigan. Ryan's seven points off three goals and an assist lead the Golden Eagles. She has registered at least a point in each of the last three games.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Thursday, Sept. 24 at West Virginia. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT.
